However, even if you buy a factory-made shuffleboard table, your best bet is still probably to hire a contractor to do some custom work like installing black lights, cup holders, and rolling wheels on the bottom. A shuffleboard table is a big investment, but it will last a lifetime so make the right choice and get the best one. Be sure not to get low-quality material that can pass itself off as high-quality wood so avoid rubber wood, China birch, which is often aggressively falsely advertised as maple, or poplar. A good shuffleboard table will require maintenance, so figure that into the cost of the shuffleboard table itself. Polishes, waxes, and scoring lights can run a pretty penny, but they’ll usually only need to be purchased once, because they last so long.
